Information for the Board Nominations for the 2023-25 Term

During the annual business meeting on Tuesday, September 27th, GRC members will vote to fill open slots for the Board of Directors for 2023-25 term. Following are bios for the candidates:

Current Board Members Wishing to Serve an Additional Term

The following members are currently serving on the Board of Directors, have expressed interest in serving an additional term and are all members in good standing.

Page Beckwith

Page works for the City of Newnan and has been the Director of Keep Newnan Beautiful for 5 years. Keep Newnan Beautiful is a city sponsored program created to help educate, motivate, and empower the individuals of Newnan, GA to take greater responsibility for improving the local community environment through litter prevention, beautification, and waste reduction. With Keep Newnan Beautiful, Page hosts specialized recycling events, serves as alocal resource for hard to dispose of items, teaches environmental education classes in local schools, works with service groups to host various cleanups, and installs fun functional green spaces. Page serves on the Coweta Stem Institute Board of Directors, the Coweta County Water Education Team, and is a board member of the Georgia Recycling Coalition. Page is the staff liaison for the City of Newnan Christmas Commission.

Page grew up in Jupiter, Florida and moved to Georgia after graduating from Presbyterian College with a degree in Elementary Education. Before working for the city, Page worked as a sales rep for the wholesale industry and as an elementary school teacher. She lives on a farm with her husband and 3 children: Amelia (21); Kimber (10) and Benton (5) They have dogs, cats, chickens, 2 pet cows, a donkey and miniature pony.

Jason Johnson

Jason is the Director of Sales for Metro Atlanta based Fulton Metals Recycling. In 2010, Jason began his career in recycling at an R2 certified recycling facility in Decatur GA and later began working with all types of scrap metal. Jason’s most recent move to Fulton Metals Recycling in 2019 has allowed him to steer the company’s focus to serving the community and businesses in Georgia. Jason serves on the Board of Directors for the Georgia Recycling Coalition.

Scott Terrell

Scott Terrell is a consultant in the solid waste industry with over 14 years of experience. Scott serves as a senior project manager and manager of talent within Jacobs’s People and Places Solutions line of business. With a deep understating of applicable regulations (i.e., RCRA and TSCA), Scott’s focus is centered around assisting clients with their solid waste, material recovery, permitting, design and compliance needs. Scott is devoted to create a more sustainable world and is delighted to help clients navigate the complex regulatory and recycling hurdles that are facing private industry and our communities.

I am excited to continue the initiatives of the GRC and to promote recycling and sustainable materials management in the State of Georgia and am grateful in your consideration of my desire to continue to serve on the GRC Board of Directors for the 2023 – 2025 term.”

Karen Wilson

Karen Wilson has worked for Greif Recycling for 10 years procuring and selling recycling within the Greif Recycling group as well as selling to other end markets. Working with Greif, Karen handles multiple grades of paper and packaging materials helping businesses develop and grow their recycling programs. Karen is a current Board Member of the Georgia Recycling Coalition and a past member of the Green Chamber of the South. Karen grew up in Atlanta, GA. She graduated with Magna Cum Laude honors from Kennesaw State University’s Cole College of Business with a BS in Professional Sales. She now resides in Buford, GA with her husband Dexter Wilson, 3 year old son, Hunter Wilson and 1 year old son, Rip Wilson. With Karen’s vast experience and dedication, Karen is an asset to Greif and to the recycling industry as a whole.

Chris Witherspoon

Chris Witherspoon currently serves as GRC 2022 Board Treasurer. Out of High School, Chris joined the United States Marine Corps where he served on active duty in Iraq in 2004 and finished out a total of 8 years in the Reserves. Throughout this time, he attended the College of Coastal GA, and started driving for a waste hauling company. Working up through the ranks, Chris was promoted to a supervisory role at Republic Services Brunswick, GA.  Soon after, he was recruited to manage hauling companies and transfer stations in Georgia for Waste Industries, Veolia ES, and Waste Pro.  He managed all aspects of these facilities and lines of business including Hauling (roll-off/residential/commercial/portable toilet/inert), Sales, Maintenance, Office, Sustainability, and was responsible for P&L and budgeting. More recently, Chris worked on the recycling and broker side of the industry as a Regional Vendor Manager for Rubicon Global, and a Territory Bulk Grade Broker for American Fiber Services.  At Rubicon, Chris successfully launched and managed many large clients like Walmart and 7 Eleven, covering all states from Louisiana to the West and Canada. Chris was also the Vice President for M-PASS Environmental.  He worked with the President and CEO to ensure the best customer service, vendor relationships, and sustainable programs for M-PASS and customers. Now back at Rubicon, Chris is the Senior Director of Commodity Sales focusing on leading the Commodity Team and handles over 50k tons of OCC, 1 million pallets, and all the metal transactions monthly for the Company. The following is a nominee for the board of directors for the 2023-25 term, has expressed interest in serving and is a member in good standing.


Additional Nominations for GRC board of Directors for 2023-25 Term

Mandy Renova Bio:

Mandy Renova has 19 years of customer service and municipal sales management experience. Raised in Georgia, she graduated from the University of West GA with a Business Administration degree. Most recently, she worked as the Government & Residential Contracts Manager from Feb 2016 – Jun 2021 with Waste Industries. Mandy established relationshipswith state, county, city and school board representatives in GA, AL and TN; and established relationships with HOA’s and property management groups in GA; she also prepared and processed solid waste contracts to complete business transactions up to $ 3.5 mil. When GFL Environmental acquired Waste Industries, Mandy served as Regional Customer Service Manager from Jul 2021 – Dec 2021. With Pratt Industries, Inc. as a Municipal Accounts Manager since March 2022, she establishes relationships with municipalities; prepares, finalizes and presents pricing models and service plans for bids and RFP’s; partners with regional management to produce the best marketing
plan for municipalities; and maintains partnerships with national accounts.

Mandy maintains community involvement with several Metro Atlanta Keep America Beautiful affiliates. She currently lives in Newnan with her husband, two children and two dogs. In her free time she loves to travel, explore outdoors or enjoy a day by the pool with the family.

This letter shall service as notice that I intend to run for the 2023-2025 Board of Directors. I understand that the Directors will be elected for three (3) year terms and can serve only two (2) consecutive terms. Directors will be elected at the GRC annual business meeting on Tuesday, September 27, 2022. The term of office for new directors will begin January 1, 2023.

Recommendation Letter for M. Renova

Mandy Renova has been working in the waste and recycling industry since 2002 as an administrator with CLM Sanitation and with GFL/Waste Industries as the government and residential contracts manager as well as the regional customer service manager since 2009- 2021. Currently, Mandy is the Municipal Accounts Manager  for Pratt Recycling since March 2022.  Professionally, I have known and worked with Mandy at GFL/Waste Industries since 2015. I highly recommend her for a board member position for the Georgia Recycling Coalition based on her knowledge, interaction, and numerous contacts within our industry.
